"all heroes are broken
beyond repair
and all villains are just heroes
who chose truth over dare"

Reasons everyone should go and immediately watch Being Human UK:

wallyallenwest:

  • best writing of a show ever (petition for Toby Whitehouse to takeover doctor who, anyone?)
  • George and Mitchell friendship
  • Aidan Turner (Kili from the hobbit) is amazing and his character has a strong arc, essentially an anti-hero
  • Mark Gatiss as Mr. Snow the vampire
  • ACTUAL COMEDY
  • but also it will leave you sobbing for 3 years
  • Mitchell’s story arc is the best crafted I’ve ever seen
  • ANNIE SAWYER
  • seriously gr8 written females
  • supernatural domesticity (a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf share a house in Bristol)
  • only show to ever replace the entire main cast & the new people are just as good as the original cast
  • Tom McNair is the cutest (aka the knave of hearts from ouatiw)
  • bbc drama at it’s finest
  • Amanda Abington’s cameo
  • THE WRITING
  • SERIOUSLY IT DESERVED SO MUCH MORE RECOGNITION
  • the characters are all really different and well developed, even the new cast were entirely diverse to their predecessors
  • you’ll recognise a lot of the cast from GOT, misfits, Sherlock, doctor who, some movies …
  • the social, religious and political commentary is amazingly subtle but resounding
  • each of the three curses is a metaphor for a  real human problem (ie. Mitchell’s character was originally a sex addict, made into a vampire when they changed it to a supernatural show)
  • it never falls into the too-angsty trap. there is always comedy to be found; no ‘chosen one’ feeling, just ordinary people in an    extraordinary situation .
  • it is essentially about human goodness and friendship
  • 'I'm doing this because I love you' 'I know'
  • not stereotypical characters. no stupid british accents. it all feels very organic and natural.
  • well written dialogue. (seriously)
  •  no manic pixie girls or snarking asskickers - well rounded female leads
  • annie is very feminine and makes tea and wants to be loved, but also stands by her convictions even at Mitchell’s (who she loved) expense. did the right thing even though it hurt her
  • SUPERNATURAL DOMESTICITY
  • George sands’ sarcasm
  • no love triangles
  • friendship put forward as the main theme instead of romantic love etc. soul of the show was human nature.
  • JUST GO AND WATCH IT
  • SERIOUSLY
  • but not the US remake (we don’t talk about that)
  • GO

If you fight like a married couple, talk like best friends, flirt like first lovers and protect each other like siblings, then you know you are meant to be
